Uyo is the Capital Of Akwa Ibom, currently the highest oil producing State in the eastern region of oil rich Niger Delta. It is one of the popular cities in South-South of Nigeria. It became the State capital on September 23,1987 following the creation of Akwa Ibom from the old Cross Rivers State.

This is surely a major economic movement that will trigger lots of adjoint commercial activities within the city and its environs. The refinery project will surely create thousand of direct and indirect jobs.
According to reports, the refinery project owned by BUA Group is expected to produce high quality gasoline, diesel, kerosine, jet fuel and propylene.
Beyond job creation, attraction local and foreign investors to the city, the mega refinery will further open and position Uyo for diverse mega economic activities, thus there will be huge demand for land to build adjoining businesses like Hotels, Petrol Station, Residential Quarters, Schools, mega shopping malls, just to mention but a few.
Just recently, the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo Inaugurated the 21 Story ultra modern smart office Complex christened DAKKADA Towers situated at the Banking Layout, Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo Capital city.
This mega architectural edifice was built by the State government to be used for rental purposes by corporate bodies mainly targeting the Oil And Gas Companies operating in Nigeria. The Dakka Towers also now currently pride itself as the Tallest building in the Niger Delta Region. Measuring 104metrs height.
This is alongside other existing functional industrial projects such as the Syringe Factory, Kings Floor Mill, Power State, Plywood Factory as well as the St. Gabriel Virgin Coconut Refinery scheduled to start operation soon.
Uyo also currently boast of a vehicle Assembly Plant, Ibom Airline, Ibom Deep Sea Port And Cottage Industries, Ibom Towers among others. The City equally boast of high secured and peaceful environment.
The city of Uyo also seems to enjoy in its Master Plan, a good transportation network for easy accessibility of the city, movement of goods and services, and for the connection and integration of local and foreign Investors into the City.
